We need your help! A Taste of our Cultures VOLUNTEERS needed.

International-studentsAlexander Muir’s “A Taste of our Cultures” evening is coming up on Thursday, May 4th & we need volunteers! We’re looking for parents, grandparents and other family members that would be willing to help out at our community event. This special evening will be run primarily by students and with the help of many family volunteers we will ensure that this evening runs smoothly.

The students and teachers are in the planning stages and we have many volunteer spaces to fill. We are looking for people to represent, in one way or another, a cultural region of their heritage. It may be in the form of one of the following areas, see below, or in another way you have in mind. We’re open for ideas and suggestions. There will be some funding for materials and/or food ingredients/items.

Please think about how you might be able to help:

  • Bringing in cultural artifacts, clothing items, music;
  • Preparing cultural food items for others to sample;
  • Preparing a cultural activity (i.e. making origami, doing henna designs;
  • Creating a display board, poster or bring in items to display.

Please watch for an email send home or the hard copy letter to be sent home on Monday asking for you to volunteer/sign up to help us or you can sign up at the following link diversitynightvolunteers  . We hope that you will be interested in taking part in this fun event at Alexander Muir PS. We couldn’t do it without you! Thank you!
