Student Survey (Grade 5 to 8)

 Y.R.D.S.B. Student Survey 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Student input is important to us.  The York Region District School Board will be conducting a survey to collect feedback from students across the system.  The survey will take place between March 20 and April 28, 2017.

The survey will include questions related to math, modern learning, mental health and well-being, equity, school safety and demographics (including racial background, and for students in Grades 7 to 12, sexual orientation).  Results from the survey will be used to support student achievement and well-being, monitor school progress, and create more equitable and inclusive school environments.

As in previous years, all students in Grades 5 to 12 are invited to participate in this online survey at their school.  The survey will take about 30 minutes to compete. The information students provide will be anonymous and individual responses will be kept strictly confidential.  Individuals will not be identified in any reports resulting from this survey.

For your reference, a copy of the survey is available in the school office and on the school website.

Completion of this survey by students is in compliance with the Ontario Education Act and fulfills the Ministry of Education’s mandate to conduct student surveys related to school climate.  If you do not wish your child(ren) in Grades 5 to 12 to complete the survey, please advise the school in writing by the end of the school day on Friday, March 24th, 2017.  If you have any questions about this survey, please contact the school office.

This important initiative will help further our vision as we work together to listen to student voices and inspire learning.  We also value parent input, and in May, will be conducting a parent survey. In the near future, we will be sharing more information on how you can participate. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Mr. Erdmann  & Ms. Wand
