Who was Alexander Muir?

Alexander Muir, our school’s namesake , was born on April 5th, 1830 and died on June 26th 1906. He was a Canadian songwriter, poet, soldier and school headmaster (Principal). Alexander is most famous for composing  The Maple Leaf Forever, which he wrote in October 1867 to help celebrate the Confederation of Canada.
