Character Matters! ~Each month our staff & students promote and focus attention on one of our board’s Character Traits. We highlight the trait at our monthly character assemblies and present certificates to selected students from each class that has demonstrated strong character on a consistent basis. This month’s character trait is Initiative.
Initiative: We act without being prompted by others. We are eager to do what needs to be done without having to be told to do it. We take the first step towards the achievement of a goal.
Help support this character trait at home by involving your child(ren) in showing initiative at home. Examples may include: cleaning up their room, starting homework without asking, brushing our teeth, saying please and thank you without reminders.
School Spirit Days ~ We also hold school spirit days monthly to help build school spirit and promote participation for our students. Our students select the school spirit theme each month. For the month of January, our grade five students have chosen ‘Twin Day’ as our spirit day. We invite students to find a friend or classmate and dress alike for the day! Staff also are encouraged to participate. We look forward to seeing lots of sets of twins and triplets at our school on Friday, January 31st. Join in on the fun!
Valentine’s Day Cookie Sale~ Along with our weekly Kernal’s popcorn sales we will be selling special Valentine’s Day cookies for $1.00 (while supplies last). They will be available starting on Thursday, February 6th at the same time and location as popcorn. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Red, White and Canada Day!~ On Friday, February 7th all students and staff at Alexander Muir are encouraged to wear Red, White or Canadian . Show your spirit and support for our Canadian Athletes that are participating in the Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia. Go! Canada! Go!
We are working each day to promote positive student engagement and participation in all aspects of school life. We invite you to join us in this endeavour.
